It did turn out to be the perfect time to clean out some things. I mainly concentrated on a couple of my closets and my bookshelves. Remember my bookshelves? It seemed right after I got the new ones, they were already getting full. I just KEEP buying more books. And lately, I've been getting a little convicted about the amount of money I spend buying them. It's spurred me to start using my library card a lot more which is great because the library is one of the greatest places on earth!
Before I put my books back on the shelves, I looked at each one and made a determination - would I want to read this book again? I started putting the "no reads" in a pile and before I knew it, I had a pile of about 100 books that I WILL NEVER READ AGAIN! I made a decision right then and there to get rid of them. I bagged them up before I could change my mind. I'm going to offer them up first to my Bunko girls and any that are left will go straight to the Thrift Store.
And that my friends, is progress.

Wow. Good for you!
I'm with ya' girl. After I read a book, if I decide it's not re-read worthy, I loan it to a friend with instructions to pass it on. If it's a keeper, I write my name in it. But lately I'm thinking about getting a Kindle just for the mere purpose of not having to deal with where to store it after I've read it. I love the library too, but our local one is lame.
Oh well done Jill!! Getting rid of books is the hardest thing for me to do...

You go girl. It is sooo hard to get rid of books. But think of how fun other people will get from reading them or finding them so cheaply at the Thrift store!
I hate parting with books I might want to read again too!! I also hope to find reading time in my life again... will it ever happen as a home schoolin - blogging mama??!! =) he he...
I need a de`clutter day without getting new carpet!! lol!! maybe I will just call it early spring cleaning... the kids have a couple days off this coming weekend... maybe then... =)

Goodbye Books...we will miss you.
I SO need to do that with SO many things in my life. (sigh) - if only I had the motivation - and time.
You must have been reading my mind! I started visiting the library about 2 years ago after I was convicted of spending way too much money on books! But I do love them and will allow myself a few of my favorite books to purchase. Now if I can only convince my hubby to find the library. He loves books and is addicted to them! Needless to say neither one of us would ever want a Kindle!
can you pass some of that progress on to me?! ; ) good work! it always is a bit freeing to let go!!!
