I'm Even Out of Random

I wish I had something fun and witty to say, but it's just not happenin' tonight. I am so tired. I could barely keep my eyes open this afternoon, but I just know I'll get some kind of second wind later on and will end up staying up later than I should. But, so it goes...

Now, a few random thoughts:

I would just like to take a quick timeout and share from my heart about my beloved Yankees. I just don't feel all that interested in baseball this year. I have no idea what's going on. For instance, they're playing on ESPN right now and I chose to watch my recorded Housewives of New York City. I know! It somewhat saddens me. But never fear, Jeter is still my boyfriend and always will be (unless he does something real bad).

It's supposed to rain some tonight. That thrills my soul because #1 - I love rain and #2 - the grass and my flowers need it. I think one of my hibiscus plants is already dead, but I'm pretty sure some good rain water may bring it back.

This is pretty sad, but I don't have anymore random thoughts. I think I'll just lay down on the couch and watch America's Next Top Model.

Love Me, Love My Cubie

Since I spend the majority of my waking hours at work, I thought I'd give you a visual of where I spend my time. This is my home away from home - affectionately called my Cubie.

And since I don't have a window, I put up my newest Sips N Strokes painting.
Hope you liked a little window into my world!

Who knew?

Today was a momentous day. I planted flowers for the very first time in my life. I was on my way to Wal-Mart to pickup a few groceries and I just made up my mind that I was going to do it. I bought 2 pots and some tropical hibiscus and then some geraniums for my window box. I can't believe how easy it was. I'm already having thoughts of what I'm gonna do around the mailbox. Wonders never cease. I'm just waiting on a call from Better Homes & Garden.

Burnt Slap Up

Do ya'll remember when Jennifer Love Hewitt got locked in that tanning bed in I Know What You Did Last Summer? Wait, it could have been I Still Know What You Did Last Summer... Anyway, it was one of those. Well, ever since I saw that scene, I have had disturbing thoughts. Not that someone would lock me in a tanning bed because frankly, that's absurd. More along the lines of "what if I fall asleep and the tanning bed doesn't shut off and I basically, well, fry???"

Ya'll, it happened, kind of. The tanning bed burnt me up and I'm in some serious pain. I was driving home from work Wednesday night and decided I would go tan. I haven't tanned since last summer. I know, I know.. it's not good for me but lets be honest, fat rolls just look better tan. For many reasons, I prefer to tan in the Mega Bed which is a good bit more powerful than just a regular bed.

I can get a fairly nice tan but because I have fair skin, green eyes, freckles, etc., I have to take it slow starting out at 5 minutes and build up to a whopping 15. I signed in, told the girl 5 minutes and hopped in the bed. I never fell asleep but obviously my mind wondered for awhile. All of a sudden I realized my skin was kind of tingling and it came to me that I had heard 3 complete songs since getting in the bed.

I jumped out of that bed so fast and the timer said it still had 6 minutes! She must have put it on 15 instead of 5. I woke up yesterday morning and my skin felt like it was on fire! It was even worse this morning. Note to self: Always check the timer before getting in the bed.

Love ya'll. Hope you have a great weekend!

Be still my heart

Something extrodinary happened to me 11 years ago today. I fell in love - real love -unconditional love. It was a feeling like no other.

April 22nd, 1998 was the day Tyler Wright Clark was born. I didn't get to see him right away because Mark and Sister were living in North Carolina at the time. Mom and Dad went first (obviously) while Del and I stayed in Bham to keep Credex going. Then it was our turn!

Ya'll, Tyler was the most beautiful baby I had ever seen! He just had this angelic look about him. I just wanted to hold him forever and stare at his beautiful, precious face. I loved and kissed on him and tried to memorize every part of his sweet self because I didn't know how long it would be before I saw him again.

But God had mercy on us and brought them back to Bham just a few (long, agonizing) months later. I was able to see him every single day and it was heavenly. He was about 6 months old when I got married and I remember being just beside myself on the way back from our honeymoon to get back and see him.

Tyler is becoming a young man which makes me happy and sad all at the same time. He makes a disgusted face now when I try to kiss him and he will probably be totally embarrassed if he reads this post. But I love him, unconditionally, and I will never stop. Happy Birthday Tyler!!!!

A Week of Busy

Just so you don't think I'm a total slacker for not blogging, I'll give you a recap of my week. It's been pretty busy for me and apparently, Mama is getting antsy for a new post.

I know I said we were doing our taxes Monday night but we didn't. So... we ended up doing them Tuesday night during commercials while we watched The Biggest Loser. Nothing like waiting till the last minute.

Wednesday night we had dinner at Jay's boss's house. It was the first time that I had met Lamar and his family. They were really nice and we had a great time. Shoutout to Heath's wife, Tracy, who let me know she reads my blog.

Thursday night, I met my friend Tanya for dinner and then we went to Sips N Strokes. I know - I'm becoming a junky! (I'll post pics of my latest artwork soon.)

I mean, it's been such a crazy week that I haven't even watched all my shows! I have all of these on the DVR right now that are just crying out for me to watch them. (FYI, they aren't in any particular order.)
  • Bones
  • NCIS
  • America's Next Top Model
  • The Housewives of New York City
  • The Office
  • The Unit
Saturday was fun. Jay and I have friends whose kids play soccer for Upwards. We decided to go watch them play and it was the cutest thing ever.

Here's Hope. She wouldn't go out on the field without Mickey. The only time she kicked the ball was when I told her I would get her a prize if she did. After she kicked it she ran off the field and hugged me. Precious!

Caroline and Olivia were next. How cute are they??? Olivia had this crazy thing going where she would run and hold her ponytail. Crack me up! And Caroline just looked like a little angel.

Obviously, Katherine didn't play but look how cute she is!

Last was Graci. She really got after it. I think she's going to end up really being good.
Today we went to Church, watched the Yankees game (THEY WON!!!), I ran errands, made a Chicken & Rice Casserole for next week, washed clothes, folded clothes AND cooked dinner! No kidding - we had Tilapia, brown rice and brussel sprouts.
And now I'm just ticked off. The stinkin' weather is on and I'm missing The Amazing Race. And I'm pretty sure it's going to cut into The Celebrity Apprentice too. GRIEF! The sirens just started going off again so I guess I better wrap this up.
I'll try to do better this week about blogging. Love ya'll!

Tax Day is Looming

Due to the fact that it's April 13th and Hubby and I still haven't done our taxes, (I know, I know...) this is about all I can give you for a post. It was a stinky day anyway, so you're not missing anything.

Mama Me-A

Oh my! This has been a weekend like no other for me. Jill & Mickey went to the beach this weekend and I kept the girls last night. It was a totally different experience for me to be a "Mama" for a full 24 hours.

I picked them up at Jill's Mom's (A.K.A. Bunny) house at 4:30 Saturday afternoon. Our first stop was Wal-Mart. When I found out Bunny had gotten Graci the Nancy Drew movie, I was estatic. Ya'll! I seriously loved me some Nancy Drew books growing up and I thought it was totally appropriate to have a Nancy Drew party. I let the girls pick out paper plates, napkins and cups. Obviously, Hannah Montana and Tinkerbell paper products totally go with a Nancy Drew party. Postor board, markers and Dip N Dots rounded out our purchases.

Next we travelled to Springville, swung through the McDonald's drive thru (I'm really into making sure kids have a healthy dinner), and went home to their house to party the night away. We ate Happy Meals on Hannah Montana plates and then made postors for our party. After the girls got their baths we snuggled up in the big chair and started the movie. Hope was out immediately and I was able to successfully transfer her from the big chair to her bed - I felt like a pro. About 8:45, Graci decided she was just too tired to finish the movie and she headed off to bed. At this point, I was feeling pretty good - things just couldn't get any better.

Little did I know... I woke up Saturday morning and glanced at the clock and was loving it that it was only 4:45 and I had at least 2 more hours to sleep. About 5 minutes later I heard a boom and the power was out. It did not come back on. How could it possibly be Easter morning, with 2 girls to get ready, and NO POWER! It was pitch black, but I somehow managed to feel my way to the laundry room to get out the Easter baskets that the Easter bunny left. I packed everything up and loaded the car before waking up the girls. It was pretty sad that I had to give them their baskets but it was too dark to see what was in them.

Still in our pajamas, we drove the 15 minutes back to Trussville to my house to get ready. I got a shower, cooked breakfast, got the girls ready and then we drove BACK to Springville to get all the stuff I forgot (mostly because I couldn't see anything). THEN! We got back in the car, went to Church, and then we were off to my parents for lunch. All of Sister's kids were there and we had us a great big ole Easter Egg Hunt.

The girls looked so cute that I just had to stop and take their picture in the gazebo in our neighborhood.

They really were so good. I only had 2 instances with Hope where she informed me that I was NOT her friend and thankfully, we were friends again within a 2 minute span. All in all, I felt pretty good about the whole situation (except when Jill & Mickey came to pick them up and I realized that I didn't brush their teeth the whole time).

That sums up my 24 hours of being a "Mama". I have a lot of respect for all ya'll Mama's because I know every night can't be a Nancy Drew night. I salute you!

The Good, Bad & the Ugly

It's been an interesting 2 days. It started yesterday off by getting to work a little before 6 (yes AM) because I had to work with a client who is an hour ahead of us and sadly for me, wanted to work with me at 7:15 (again, AM). Anyway, it took all of about 15 whole minutes. Obviously, I had a good bit of time before 8:00 which was good because I needed to prepare for a 10:00 meeting with a prospect.

Unfortunately, no amount of time could have prepared me for this meeting. My demo didn't work, I had to leave them waiting for close to 30 minutes to try to fix the program, and sparing you all of the sad little details - I generally looked like the biggest airhead of all time as I babbled my way through this meeting, mostly laughing so I wouldn't cry.

Needless to say, my workday could have gone a little better. My only accomplishment was the fact that when I went by Wal-Mart on my lunch break, I did NOT get the box of honey buns that literally yelled my name from every part of that store. There is no doubt in my mind that if that box had made it into my buggy, I would have inhaled all 6 of them in the 3 or so minutes it takes to get back to my office. It was hard ya'll.

My night got better! Kremsa, Jake, Kerrie & Tom all came over for dinner. It was really good to see Kremsa and Jake - it's been about 2 years. You know you're really good friends when you can go that long without seeing each other and pick up right where you left off. Oh my word, we literally laughed until we cried.

Poor Jake... he's a vet and bless his heart, you know people are probably always asking him questions about their pets. Jay and I were no exception. Basically, his conclusion after hearing about Sissy's peeing on carpet & pooping in corners and Callie's hairless butt and back leg, he thinks Sissy has a behavorial problem (you think?) and Callie is experiencing anxiety. Regardless, he seriously recommended them going on Prozac. Ya'll! My cats need Prozac. Is this for real?

Jake, Kremsa, Jay, Kerrie & Tom

Kremsa, Kerrie & Me

And then, today... I woke up with a headache, nauseous and generally all-around feeling bad. (And no, before you ask, I am not pregnant.) I didn't go to work. The best part of the day was when I realized at some point that I still felt nauseous, but it was because I was actually hungry. I won't bore you with all those details either.

So have a good one ya'll. It's almost the weekend.

What if...

I am experiencing deep sadness right now. Today was the first day of the Regular Season and my beloved Yankees lost. Ya'll, they didn't just lose, they lost BIG - 10 to 5. Now, my boyfriend did great but I'm sad for the team. Who wants to start a Season with a loss? Don't worry - they will rally and I'm sure give those stinkin' Orioles a good spankin' Wednesday night.

OK, wait - yep, my sadness is gone because.... I'm super excited about getting to see a long-time friend tomorrow night! Kremsa and Jake are in town from Apopka, FL and are coming over to eat dinner and hang out. (Don't worry, I'm not cooking. I have a great plan to call in an order to Jim-N-Nicks and pick it up on my way home.) Kerrie and Tom are coming too so it will be plenty of good times.

Kerrie and Kremsa have been some of my closest friends since middle school. We spent many a Friday night yapping about let's see... boys, boys and more boys. One of my favorite things we did was play "What If". We would lay in the bed and "What If" each other till the cows came home. You know, What If [insert boy's name here] comes up to you at school and [insert totally romantic, best thing that could ever happen, straight out of a movie] .... what would you do? I'm just gonna admit it right here and now that Kerrie and I played this right through college too. Oh yes, Jay and Tom... ya'll were the subjects of some "What Ifs".

Needless to say, I totally need to get my rear in gear and get this house straightened up some. Bless Jay's little heart, he's in the kitchen cleaning out the dishwasher and washing a pot that's been in the fridge with chili in it for about 2 weeks (ok, maybe 3).

(Total change of subject. Have ya'll seen the Old Navy commercials with the mannequins? HILARIOUS! Somebody needs to get the people that thunk those up a prize.)

I better go. I'll report back soon!

"It's Raining on Sunday...."

Summing up the weekend...

Friday night started out with a bang - the Yankees played their first game EVER in the new stadium and MLBN was kind enough to air it. Jay and I got to see them put a beat down on the Cubs. And my boyfriend, Jeter, got the first club hit EVER in the new stadium when he doubled. (Please note: he got the last hit ever in the old stadium.) I could not have been prouder. Now, this was still a pre-season game. The regular season starts Monday and I am pledging my commitment to keep you updated - It's the least I can do.

Saturday was great. I spent some time at the gym and then got to spend the rest of the day with Hubby. We had lunch, got my car cleaned up, did a little shopping and managed not to get in an argument all day. The weather was perfect. It was sunny, not hot, not cold.

Not so much today - rainy, cold and getting colder. It's one of those days where you just want to stay in your pajamas and read all day. I'm so glad I went to Church though. Bro. Bill is doing a wonderful study of the prophecies of Daniel. And then I got to spend time with those sweet little angels in the nursery. Afterwards, we went to lunch with Mickey, Jill, Lee, Kim & their kids. I'm so thankful for all our good friends.

Well, I didn't lose or gain anything this week. I'm definately not on schedule. Maybe I can make some of it up this week. I'm gonna workout like crazy and see what happens.
