Good Times with Mama

I had a great weekend. It was tiring but really good. Mom and I went to the Extrodinary Women's conference Friday night and Saturday. I'll be posting more about it later in the week but I did want to tell you about a couple of things that Mama said that cracked me up.

We knew that we were going to have a couple of hours for a lunch break on Saturday so we took some snacks in a cooler so we could go back out to the car and eat. (Of course, we did pick up some nachos at the snack bar but that's beside the point.) It was really nice because it was raining and we were able to doze, read and chat.

While we were eating, Mama all of the sudden says, "Oh no, I see terrorists. I hope they don't go in there and blow everybody up." Ya'll, she was serious. I looked up and it was 3 men with an Arabic look walking across the parking lot. She thought the one in the front looked really suspicious. She was concerned but that didn't stop us from finishing our nachos.

It wasn't too long after that when we started discussing Farrah and different people's views on whether or not she should have made the documentary about her struggle with cancer. Then Mama said, "I'm so worried about Patrick."

The funny thing about that statement is that she didn't use a last name but I knew immediately that she was talking about Patrick Swayze. Mama has loved her some Patrick Swayze since the first time she saw "Dirty Dancing". It would be interesting to know just how many times she's seen that movie. Bless her, she is very concerned because he doesn't know Jesus.

She was talking about her concern and then looked over and wanted to know what I was doing. I told her I was making notes because she was giving me really good material for my blog. I wish you could have seen her face. I laughed until I cried.

I do not have a crush on Patrick. He is just a part of my younger years. He doesn't hold a candle to your Daddy and by the way you forgot to tell them that 5 minutes after my statement about being blown up we saw a man walking across the street with a rifle over his shoulder. The nachos were great and so was the weekend. It was wonderful to see 4000 women praising our God.

Mammahensmama - remember, just because you're on a diet doesn't mean you can't look at the menu. Keep on loving Patrick.
